Men's Softball Day 4
Wednesday August 17th, 2005
Rambler Park
Day 4 Highlights
PEI vs New Brunswick
With the game tied 4-4 after 6 innings of play,
PEI scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning to
secure their first victory at the Canada Games.
Alberta vs Nova Scotia
After 1 inning of play Alberta led 1-0
In the
top of the 2nd Aaron Harvey (Hants County, NS)
hit a 2 run home run to give Nova Scotia the
lead
Jonathan Gunn (Denver Guys Cove, NS) hit a
2 RBI double in the 4th inning to make the score
Nova Scotia 6 Alberta 2, Nova Scotia went onto
win 7-4. Cory Avery (Larry's River, NS) who was
a member of Canada's Bronze medal team at the
2005 Men's World Jr. Championship went 3-4 with 1 run scored.
Newfoundland vs British Columbia
With the score 1-1 after 1 inning, Tyler Hagan
(Richmond, BC) hit a solo shot giving BC the edge
2-1
In the bottom of the 2nd, Wayne Bruce
(Holyrood, NF) hit a 2 RBI single giving
Newfoundland their first lead in the game (3-2)
In the bottom of the 3rd inning Mark Lewis
(Marysvale, NL) hit a 3 run home run to give
Newfoundland a 6-2 cushion
British Columbia tied
the game in the top of the fifth scoring 4 runs,
leading the way was Bryan Abrey (Richmond, BC)
who hit a 2 run home run
In the bottom of the
5th Lewis was at it again hitting a single giving
him his 4th RBI of the game and Newfoundland the
lead
Newfoundland would score 1 more run and
hand British Columbia their first loss at the Canada Games
British Columbia vs Saskatchewan
Kerry Ross (Sooke, BC) led the way offensively
for British Columbia in a 6-0 win over host
Saskatchewan
Ross went 3-4 with 3RBI
Saskatchewan did threaten in the bottom of the
4th
BC was leading 2-0 and Saskatchewan loaded
the bases with no out
Kyle Rivett (Hafford, SK)
hit a deep fly ball for 1 out, the runner at 3rd
tagged up and tried to score but was thrown out
to complete the double play, the next batter was
retired on strikes and the threat was over.
Ontario vs Newfoundland
Newfoundland has made its presence known at the
Canada Games by not only defeating British
Columbia earlier in the day, but later in the
night they downed Ontario 8-3
Jonathan Kane
earned the win for Newfoundland in a strong
outing and contributed offensively with 2 hits
and 2 RBI
Ben Tee hit a solo shot for Ontario
Justin Gill put the game out of reach in the
bottom of the 4th inning with a 2 run home run
