(LEAGUE CITY, Texas) - Canada took to an early lead in game three
and didn't look back as they defeated the Thunder 7-1 in front
of 421 at Big League Dreams in League City, Texas.

The Canadian National Team wasted very little time to get on
the board on Friday, as they pushed runs across in the first
three innings of the game. Canada scored a pair of runs in the
first inning on a Sheena Lawrick (Calgary, AB) two run double
to take the early lead.

Canada's biggest offensive inning came in the top of the third
when they scored three times to put the game out of reach. Canada
used four hits, including RBI doubles from Jennifer Salling (Port
Coquitlam, BC) and Melanie Matthews (Surrey, BC), to score their
runs.

Texas managed to score just one run in the game in the bottom
of the second inning as Canada pitcher Kaila Holtz (North Vancouver,
BC) walking in the only Thunder's run of the game.

Holtz picked up the win for Canada on the night helping them
to wins in the first three games of the series. The tall right-hander
from UMass went the distance allowing four hits and just one
run in the game. She struck out five and walked three in the
contest.

Nicole Neuerburg got the start in the circle for the Thunder
and went a combined 2 1/3 innings in the game. Neuerburg went
the first 1 1/3 innings in the game before giving way to Thursday
night's starter Serena Settlemier. In relief, Settlemier went
4 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. Neuerburg
came in to finish the game for Texas and pitched a scoreless
seventh inning. Overall, Neuerburg gave up four hits and three
earned runs.

"The game started a little shaky but the team responded with
a strong offensive showing" admitted Lori Sippel, Head Coach
of the Senior Women's National Team. "Additional runs in the
second and third inning gave Holtz the cushion she needed to
work out the kinks and find her rhythm."
