Tough start for White Sox at world champs
Sunday August 27th 2006
The opening day of the 2006 Womens Softball World Championships
inBeijing, China has delivered a tough lesson to the New Zealand
CommunityTrust White Sox.
In their opening game of the tournament today the White Sox have
beenbeaten by Canada 9-0. Going into the tournament Canada had
been tipped bysome pundits as standing a realistic chance of
winning a medal at thetournament and today against the White
Sox they proved those punditscorrect.
>From the outset it was a game that didnt go right for the White
Sox asCanada scored six runs in the first two innings.
While it hasnt been an ideal start for the White Sox today there
isstill a long way to go in the tournament as the New Zealand
team look toqualify in the top four from their pool to advance
to the top eightplayoffs.
Tomorrow will be a new day for the New Zealanders and a chance
for theteam to get their world championship campaign rolling
when they take onSouth Africa at 7.30pm (NZ time).
