NORTH YORK, ONTARIO- Softball Ontario would like to ring in 2011
by offering a FREE School Program available to elementary school
teachers for Grades 6, 7 & 8. The Active Softball Program is
designed to teach participants movement skills and concepts through
the sport of Softball. This is a great new way to keep participants
active and fulfill elements of the physical education curriculum.
Active Softball introduces combinations of loco-motor movements
using different drills and applies a variety of tactical solutions
while developing interpersonal skills during the different physical
activities.

The Active Softball Program consists of everything you will need
to introduce the game of softball! Each Kit contains the following:

An Active Softball Game Board (4’ x 4’) – perfect for indoor
use!!

What is the Skill Test Challenge?

evaluate participants on their basic movement skills and concepts
and healthy eating. Each of the skills evaluated in the Skills
Test Challenge fit within the 2010 Health and Physical Education
Curriculum!!

There are twenty-two (22) skill tests included in this Manual,
which will test both your students’ basic physical abilities
and their softball specific skills. Softball Ontario asks that
you test your participants on FIVE (5) Skills Tests and return
those results back with the Kit at the end of your loaned period!
The Softball Skills Test Challenge can be run at any point in
your curriculum seeing as you will now have all the necessary
equipment from the Active Softball Kit in your possession.

How Can Your Local Softball Association Help?
Available on the ACTIVE Softball Request Form is a box where
all teachers can indicate if they would like a volunteer from
their Local Softball Association to come in during either their
class time or lunch period to help set up and instruct the Active
Softball Game. Softball Ontario has received many inquiries whether
we have individuals who are willing to come out and help and
who better to do this then the local Softball volunteers who
know the game best?! Those teachers interested can fill out an
"X" in the box and Softball Ontario will contact your local Softball
Association for a volunteer to come out and help!

How Can You Participate in the Active Softball Program?
The Kits are available on a first-come; first –served basis;
contact Softball Ontario as soon as possible to book your month.
All teachers/facilitators are responsible for shipping/returning
the Kit back to the Softball Ontario office. Softball Ontario
does offer a subsidized shipping cost that is very reasonable
and can be pre-paid for prior to your Kit being due. For further
details on Softball Ontario`s ACTIVE SOFTBALL Program or to borrow
an Active Kit for your school, please contact Carly Laxton at
(416) 426-7150 or by email at
