Clear blue skies, warm summer evening, the New Dundee Optimist Club/Village Caterer and the Brick Beer tent were very busy and on the twin diamonds, Wellington Sox and the Kitchener Outlaws continued the pattern of the local team beating up on the visitors.
On the upper diamond Andy Jackson of the Georgian Bay Axemen and Kitchener Outlaw Mel Ross locked up on what everyone thought was going to be a 2 to 1 pitchers battle, but it turned into a slugfest, ending with a walk off two run home run by the Outlaws 3rd baseman Ryan Shannon in the bottom of the 7th.
Kitchener jumped out with a five run first inning. Geogian Bay Axemen responded with 4 in the 3rd and took the lead in the top of the 5th. The Outlaws responded to tie the game at 7 in the bottom of the 5th and closed the book with Shannon’s homer.
The Axemen were swinging for the fence as well, Chris Mink and Tony Lisk both had homers for the Georgian Bay squad.
