ISC II #36 Denmark, WI Circle Tap Lumberjacks in Wisconsin Travel League

Denmark, WI

The Circle Tap Lumberjacks completed the first weekend of the Wisconsin
Classic League with a 4-1 record.

Our first game was Friday night against The Bar of Appleton. After Gerad Long
of The Bar held the Lumberjacks scoreless through six innings, the Lumberjacks
scored three runs in the seventh on two walks and two errors by The Bar to
take a 3-2 victory. Dave Miller was the winning pitcher and Scott Bortolini
pitched the seventh for the save.

The second game was against Earl’s Club of Kenosha. After spotting Earl’s to
an early six run lead, the Lumberjacks scored three in the second, one in the
third, two in the fifth, and one in the bottom of the seventh to take the
victory. Dave Engelbert earned the win with five scoreless innings in relief
of Scott Bortolini. Tim Jorgenson, Shawn Krueger, and Luke Goral each had two
RBI’s in the game.

Our third game was against PJ’s Log Jam. Again after PJ’s took an early 2-0
lead, the Lumberjacks gained the 5-2 victory by scoring one in the fifth, and
two in the sixth and seventh. Dave Miller earned his second win of the
weekend in relief of Dave Engelbert. Chris Timm had a two RBI triple to spark
the Lumberjacks.

The fourth game of the weekend was against The Bar of Appleton. The
Lumberjacks started early in this one, scoring two in the first and three in
the third to take a 5-3 lead into the fifth. The Lumberjacks then scored five
in the fifth to take the 10-3 victory by the mercy rule. Scott Bortolini
earned the victory on the mound. Tim Jorgenson had five RBI’s with two
doubles and a single.

The fifth game was aginst Earl’s Club. Earl’s Club jumped out to an early 7-0
lead. But the Lumberjack again came back with two in the fifth and four in
the seventh. However, the tying run was thrown out at the plate to give
Earl’s Club the victory. Dave Miller took the loss on the mound. Jeff
Hauschel and Chris Timm each had two hits and an RBI.

Our last game of the weekend against PJ’s Log Jam was rained out on Sunday.
This will be made up during the second weekend of Classic League play.

The Lumberjacks (4-1) will be in action again at the ISC State Tournament in
Denmark on June 10-12 and in Classic League play on July 1-3.
