Ohio Area Qualifier

The battle for Ohio spots in international competition is set to be joined in June in the city of Orrville.

Ohio Area Commissioner, Al Thomas, has announced that teams from his area will meet in Orrville over the weekend of June 24-25 to compete for berths in both the International Softball Congress World Tournament and in the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The format for the Ohio competition will be Round Robin.

The entry fee is $300. And the deadline for entering is June 1.

Indiana Area Qualifier

The engraved invitation to a spot in either the ISC World Tournament or the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions awaits the qualifying teams who compete in the Indiana ISC Qualifiers.

The date is: June 23 – 25.

The location: Riverview Park in Elkhart, Indiana.

The format for the event will be determined by the number of teams which enter the competition, but Commissioner Bob Clark notes that there will be a two-game minimum.

Entry fee is $250.

Commissioner Clark is optimistic that his Indiana Area will produce an entrant in both the ISC World Tournament and the ISC II Tournament of Champions when those two events are played in Kitchener, Ontario, in August.

Mid-Atlantic ISC II Qualifier

Mid-Atlantic Area ISC-II Qualifier Set for Lebanon, Pa.

Area Commissioner Bill Howell is announcing the dates and location for the qualifying tournament for teams in the Mid-Atlantic Area who wish to compete for a berth in the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The competition will be held in Lebanon, Pa. at Prescott Field over the weekend of June 23-24.

The winner of the event will gain a berth in the ISC II Tournament of Champions to be played in Kitchener, Ontario August 13-18.

The entry fee is planned to be $200, but will be determined by the number of teams entered in the competition. Entry fees must be paid by June 17, 2006. The format for the tournament will also be determined by the number of teams entered.

Eastern Canada Qualifiers for Western Ontario & Eastern Ontario + Quebec & Atlantic Canada

The ISC II Qualifier for western Ontario will be held June 16-18 in Innerkip. The same weekend, Fitzroy Harbour will host the ISC II Qualifier for eastern Ontario with teams also welcome from Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

Each of these events will qualify a team for an automatic spot in the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The format for both the Innerkip and the Fitzroy Harbour qualifiers will be double elimination.

Entry fee for either event is $300 with a check payable to ISC II Ontario Qualifier.

Teams MUST identify whether they plan to play in either Innerkip or Fitzroy Harbour. Player rosters for either event must be submitted by June 7th.

Utah Area Qualifier

Area Commissioner Don Young has announced the details for the tournament which will qualify teams from the Utah area for both the ISC World Tournament and for the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The competition will be held on May 27 and 28 at the Cottonwood Softball Complex in Salt Lake City.

The tournament will be held as the Alpine tournament and will be sponsored by the Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Department.

The format will be round robin pool play which will lead to a single elimination playoff.

Entry fee is $300.

Team USA wins AAU

The 2006 AAU Men’s International Fastpitch Tournament ended today with Team USA taking a 3-2 win over Team Minnesota in the championship game. Adam LaLonde hit the game winning single in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Earlier, Team USA defeated Hallman Twins of Kitchener, Ontario, 4-1 and Team Minnesota took a 6-4 win over Heflin Builders of Stillwater, NY to set up the championship game.

Team USA took both individual honors when Travis Price was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Pitcher and Frank DeGroat took the Most Valuable Player honors. Price was the winning pitcher in the championship game, going the distance while DeGroat hit .467 for the tournament and caught every Team USA game.

The tournament was played in outstanding weather conditions all four days. Today’s temperature is in the low 80’s under sunny skies.

The AAU thanked all 28 teams and their fans for supporting this 7th annual tournament and welcomed everyone back in 2007.
