GHFL.ca Forum is back

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

The popular GHFL.ca Forum is back online after an “interesting” diversion and a lesson in internet security, if nothing else.

In the next day or two, we will be upgrading the forum software to a more secure version provided by phpbb. This will NOT affect your registration, screen name(s) or password. Please note that at no time was your personal computer security at risk to a virus or spyware if you logged into the Forum during the past few days.

With the help of Jim Flanagan and phpbb, we have been able to recover all the posts up to October 8, so if you had something to say after that, please re-post it.

Thanks for your patience and welcome back!

Cheers,

Blair Setford

GHFL.ca forum hacked

Monday, October 17th, 2005

Unfortunately, some loser who clearly has far too much time on his hands due to an inability to get a real job has hacked the ghfl.ca forum. I am working with Jim Flanagan to get the forum back online and, hopefully to recover all of the posts. We will keep you advised via Al’s Fastball List, The Deuce and other fastball boards when the ghfl.ca forum is back up and operating.
Cheers,

Toronto Champion Indians win OCDFL title

Oshawa On

Wednesday October 12th 2005

Under very wet and cool conditions these two teams battled it out in this final deciding game to determine the Oshawa City And District Fasball League 2005 playoff champions.

Very fine misty rain prevailed for the whole game, pitchers had trouble hanging onto the ball having to constantly ask for a towel to dry of the ball. Kudos to the catchers.

Google’s New RSS Blog Reader

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

Well, it’s the off-season, and it’s a slow news cycle, so a good time to drop in a tech tip. To many, RSS (Real Simple Syndication) blog feeds are still Greek.

Leave it to the geniuses at Google to simplify RSS for you. They just rolled out their RSS “Reader” today. Click here for details and a tour.

We’ll leave the explanations to Google, but the short version is that Google Reader gives you a way to see what updates have been posted to your favorite blogs — like The Deuce or Morning Brief for example. Toss in your favorite baseball site and keep up with the playoffs while you’re at it. Instead of clicking around to see which of your favorite blogs or websites have been updated, just visit your Google Reader, and it will display the excerpts to show you.

p.s. When you get to the blank line to “Add a Feed”, copy and paste these (one at a time):
