Canada East qualifiers go this weekend

A total of 30 teams from Ontario and Quebec will face off in Innerkip and Fitzroy Harbour this weekend to decide the Canada East Area berths to the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions.

In Innerkip, action kicks off tonight with 8 games featuring 10 teams included in the June 15 ISC II rankings. First round games are as follows:

Canada East Qualifier Draws

Bob McGowan, Canada East ISC Area Commissioner, is pleased to announce the draws for the ISC & ISC II Qualifiers to be held in Innerkip & Fitzroy Harbour June 16-18. A record of 35 teams are competing in this year’s qualifiers. The winners of each tournament will receive a berth in either the ISC World Tournament or the ISC II Tournament of Champions being held in Kitchener August 11-19 with additional invite berths to both tournaments likely to be made available.

All teams are reminded that final rosters are due Wednesday June 14.

#15 Denver, CO Colorado Rage qualify for ToC

Pueblo Bandits Roll in the Joe Santos Memorial

The Pueblo Bandits reached their second title game in as many weeks when they faced off in a battle of Manley men in the Joe Santos Memorial Tournament Final. Bandit ace Jeremy Manley led the Bandits to an 8-1 win over his younger brother Regan Manley of the Colorado Rage in the championship game.

By virtue of their win, Pueblo earned a berth into the ISC tournament. The Colorado Rage earned the ISC II ToC berth with their runner-up finish.

This tournament showed a resurgence of team and fan interest in men’s fastpitch with teams from El Paso, TX, Arizona & Utah and from all over Colorado. Thanks to all who participated and supported the event.

Last chance to enter Fitzroy Harbour qualifier

Canada East ISC Commissioner Bob McGowan is issuing one final call to Ontario and Quebec ISC II teams that there are only a couple of spots remaining for the ISC II qualifier to be held in Fitzroy Harbour June 16-18.

To date, 14 teams have registered for the Fitzroy Harbour qualifier. Entries will be closed in the next week to 10 days.

This will be the final opportunity for Ontario and Quebec teams to qualify for the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions in Kitchener/Cambridge as the ISC II qualifier in Innerkip the same weekend is full at 16 teams.

The entry fee is $300.

The winners of each ISC II qualifier will receive berths in the 2006 ToC with additional invite berths likely available.

Canada East ISC Commissioner Bob McGowan is announcing that the ISC II Qualifier in Innerkip June 16-18 is now tentatively capped at 16 teams with one team on the waiting list.

ISC II teams in Ontario and Quebec can still enter the ISC II qualifier to be held in Fitzroy Harbour June 16-18. The entry fee is $300.

The winners of each ISC II qualifier will receive berths in the ISC II Tournament of Champions with additional invite berths likely available.

Southern Illinois Qualifier

South Central Illinois ISC Qualifier Set for Vandalia

Rich Well, ISC Deputy Commissioner, has announced the dates, site, and other details for the South Central Illinois ISC Qualifier for the 2006 fastball season.

The competition will be held in Vandalia, Illinois, over the weekend of June 2, 3, and 4.

The tournament will determine an area representative for the ISC World Tournament (which will be held in Kitchener, ONT, August 11 – 19) and a second representative for the ISC II Tournament of Champions (in Kitchener, ONT, August 13 – 18.

The planned format is round robin with semi-finals and finals pitting the top two teams from each pool into a single elimination tourney. This format may change depending on the number of teams competing for the ISC World Tournament spot and the number competing for the spot in the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Teams will need to declare as they enter the event whether they are competing for the ISC or the ISC II berth.

Deadline is April 17.

Entry fee is $200. Checks should be payable to RichWell/The Freight Softball.

WA-OR-BC Qualifiers

Qualifying Tourneys Set for ISC Berths in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia Area

The stage is set for competition in the Pacific Northwest which will fill a spot in the 2006 International Softball Congress World Tournament and another in the ISC II Tournament of hampions.

Keith Erkenbrack, Area Commissioner for Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia, has set the following dates for qualifying tournaments from his area:

ISC II Tournament of Champions Qualifier – – Friday June 16 – Sunday June l8.

ISC World Tournament Qualifier – – Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2.

Both tournaments will be held at South Memorial Park in Vancouver, British Columbia

Entry fee will be $300.

Texas Area Qualifier

The hot hurlers and batsmen of the vast reaches of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas will head to Austin, Texas, in May for the battles which will determine the representatives of that area to the International Softball Congress World Tournament and the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

John Limon, Area ISC Commissioner, is announcing all of the details for his area qualifier.

The dates will be the weekend of May 27-28.

The Butler Softball Complex in Austin will be the site.

The tournament will be hosted by Castro Concrete which is in its 10th season of hosting a major tournament action.

Format will be double-elimination.

K-master balls will be provided and used throughout the tournament.

The entry fee is $225.

Awards will be given to the teams finishing in the top four spots in the event; to a 12-man All-Tournament team; to a Most Valuable Pitcher and to a Most Valuable Player. A sportsmanship award will also be given.

The prizes from this competition will be one berth in the 2006 International Softball Congress World Tournament and one berth in the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Minnesota Area Qualifier & Travel League

The Area Qualifier for the Minnesota area will be held in Stillwater, MN., over the weekend of June 17-18.

The Minnesota Travel League will hold its competition over the weekends of May 13-14 and June 10-11. This competition, like the later Area Tournament, will be held in Stillwater on the banks of the beautiful St. Croix River.

Commissioner Les Novak has a total of six teams committed to the Travel League with the likelihood of two more coming aboard.

Michigan Area Qualifier to be held in Frankenmuth

Heritage Park in Frankenmuth, Michigan, will once again be the site of the Michigan Area Tournament, This competition will serve to qualify a team for a berth in the 2006 International Softball Congress World Tournament and a second team for a position in the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Commissioner Tom Stasik has established the weekend of July 7-9 as the dates for his Area Tournament and Qualifier.

Entry fee is $300.

Deadline for entry is June 15.

The format will be determined by the number of teams who enter the event.

Northeast Area Qualifier

Legends Field, a six-diamond lighted complex in Oswego, New York, will be the site of International Softball Congress Qualifying Tournaments over the weekend of May 13-14.

ISC Area Commissioner Billy Smith is announcing the event which will serve to qualify one team to the ISC World Tournament and at least one more to the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Entry fee is $300, payable to Billy Smith.

Deadline for entry is May 1, 2006.

The format will be Round Robin.

All teams in the ISC Northeast area are eligible. Commissioner Smith points out that rules and guidelines are available from the ISC website (www.iscfastpitch.com)

Smith also notes that there is a possibility that two berths in the ISC II tourney may be awarded, while only one spot in the ISC World Tournament will be available.

Trophies will be awarded to both winners.
