Elmira ON Cubs Win 2005 ISC II !

2005 ISC II Champions, the Elmira ON Cubs

The Elmira Ontario Cubs topped the Port Elgin Ontario Blue Devils 8-1 in the title game, and posted a perfect 8-0 record to claim the championship in the 2005 ISC II Championship at Casper Park in Chippewa Falls, WI on Friday, August 19, 2005. It was the first trip to the ISC II Tournament for both clubs.

Elmira pitcher Casey Halstead was the winning pitcher in the title game, posting a 6-0 record, with one save and an ERA of 0.23 during the tournament, earning honors as the Top Pitcher in the tournament as well as MVP.

PLAY SUSPENDED THURSDAY- TO RESUME FRIDAY at 8am

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT AT 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18:
Play has been suspended until 8am Friday, August 19, due to rain.

All games will resume at that time, from whatever point they were when play was suspended, on the same diamond. All games will resume promptly at 8:00 a.m.

The game between Alvinston ON vs. Fisher Group, Mankato MN was called after five complete innings of play, with the final score, 8-5. Alvinston will play the winner of the Niagara Snapper vs. the Ashland OH Merchants.

Two alternate channel broadcasts today – at 3 pm eastern Bridgeport vs Elmira and at 5 pm eastern Niagara vs Ashland.

Tune in to ballparkradio.com and click on the “Channel Two” link for those games.

On channel 1, right now is Port Elgin vs Circle Tap Lumberjacks – PE is up 1-0 through 3.5 innings.

At 2 pm eastern is Tavistock vs McKie’s Sports.

At 4 pm eastern is Alvinston vs Fisher Group

At 5 pm eastern is Ottawa vs Black Gold in a quarter final game

At 7 pm easter is another quarter final with winner of Tavistock/McKie’s vs winner of Bridgeport/Elmira.

Had Corey Costello on the radar gun at 76 mph this morning and Eric Steinbeck of Black Gold at 73 mph. Bradley also hit 73 mph. Dan Konkle was 72 the other night and Shane Bouman was 72 as well.

Harriston will be the visiting team in their game vs Reasnor RPMs – about to get underway 15 minutes early on D2.

Passed at the board of directors meeting yesterday was a motion to provide a provisional berth in the following year’s ISC WT for the ISC II division.

Eighty games are in the books for the 2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions, with the Top 24 teams to be announced just prior to tonight’s 6pm broadcast on ballparkradio.com.

Three teams from each of 8 pools advance to the “Top 24” Single Elimination bracket, with 23 games to be played between now and Friday’s 4pm championship game.

5:00 pm Broadcast – Tavistock vs. Lloydminster game to start at 6pm

[Chippewa Falls, WI-Tues. 8/16]- The broadcast of the Tavistock v. Lloydminster game set for 5pm will start closer to 6pm due to the preceding game going extra innings. (Niagara winning over Black Gold in that one).

The broadcasts slated for 7pm and 9pm will follow that game, and could be a bit late starting as well.
