Kitchener to host 2011 WT & ToC

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Editors’ Note: The ToC has never had a better home than in Kitchener. With great crowds that are knowledgeable and appreciative (and sizable), the birthplace of ISC II offers terrific fields and a brilliant atmosphere that simply can’t be matched. We look forward to the return trip to Budd Park!

Budd Park

The International Softball Congress (ISC) is pleased to announce that Kitchener, ON will host the 2011 ISC World Tournament and ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Normally, bidding for the 2011 tournaments would occur during the ISC Board of Director meeting in August in Quad Cities. However, we have talked to each prospective host city for 2011 and all have withdrawn except Kitchener. It was therefore decided we would award the 2011 tournaments early, to allow Kitchener maximum time to plan and prepare.

Kitchener has successfully hosted 3-prior ISC World and ISC II tournaments in 2002, 2006 & 2007 and we have every confidence their 2011 tournaments will be equally successful.

It is expected that Duncan Matheson will again serve as tournament director for the World Tournament and Rick Boyd as tournament director for the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The contract with Kitchener will be signed later this summer after the Midland contract for 2010 is signed.

Ashland Stock Pack on top in ISC II Preseason Rankings

Monday, May 4th, 2009

May 4, 2009 – Ashland, OH Stock Pack tops a wide-open field in the preseason ISC II rankings, followed closely by Bridgeport, ON Braves.

A total of 43 teams received consideration from the panel of 12, with several commenting that this is the most difficult year to judge ISC II as the competition is so tight. However, with some rosters still to be settled, there is sure to be plenty of movement among the top 10 throughout the year.

1. Ashland, OH Stock Pack
2. Bridgeport, ON Braves
3. Dundas, ON CPI/ADS Classics
4. Palermo, ON Athletics
5. Kitchener, ON Outlaws
6. Sun Valley, CA Rude Pac
7. Reading, PA Hoffman Rise
8. Ottawa, ON Team Easton Thunder
9. Cobourg, ON Force
10. Elmira, ON Expos

The rankings will form the basis of the pools for the 2009 ISC II Tournament of Champions to be played in Rock Island, IL, a part of the Quad Cities.
