The Toronto Champion Indians will participate in the Oshawa District League as defending champions for the first time. After qualifying last fall in Hillsburgh for this years ToC we are looking forward to representing the Oshawa league this summer in Kitchener.

Pete Schwab Memorial Tournament July 14-16

I’d like to invite everyone to this year’s Pete Schwab Memorial men’s fastpitch softball tournament. The tournament will be held July 14-16 in Frankenmuth’s Heritage Park.

As in years past, the tournament will be organized into a 4-game round robin tournament with the top 6 teams competing in a single-elimination playoff. A total of 16 teams are expected, as in years past.

The tournament entry fee is $300. The tournament will be structured around ISC II type teams. Teams with pitchers on the ISC II pitcher’s ineligible list will not be allowed unless written approval is given by the tournament committee prior to the entry deadline of July 1st.

Frankenmuth is a beautiful place to visit during the summer. I strongly recommend bringing your families along.

Snapper Shootout Teams

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

The Mick & Angelo’s Snapper Shootout is set with 16 confirmed teams. The Shootout will take place on June 2-4 at Centennial Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The field of teams promises to offer very competitive fastball at the ISC II level. Top prize will be $1500 Cdn plus Molson prizes. The host Niagara Snappers are-two time defending champions and will be in tough to repeat in 2006 as the calibre of teams seems to get better each year.

Here is a run down of the 16 confirmed teams. Teams will play a divisional format with the top two teams in each division moving on to the Sunday single elimination.

The Sioux Falls Sox of Sioux Falls, SD are please to announce their schedule and roster for the 2006 season.

The Sioux Falls Sox, coming off a very successful 2005 campaign, where they took fourth in the West St Paul Tourney, and third place at the Holmes Classic in Fargo ND are very excited about the upcoming year. They hope to find their way back to the Tournament of Champions where they compiled a 4-0 record in 2005 before they were too shorthanded to continue. We look forward on building on our team success from a year ago.

Canada East Travel League includes two ISC II teams

League President Mr. Colin Smith announced today that the Travel League of Eastern Canada schedule for 2006 has been finalized.

The action will start Saturday, May 13 in Niagara Falls Ontario with the Snappers hosting the Kitchener Hallman Twins in a double header starting at 1pm.

Kitchener will in turn host the Niagara Snappers in Kitchener the next day, Sunday, May 14, also at 1pm.

Teams in the League this year are:

Kitchener Hallman Twins
Niagara Snappers
Ohsweken Redmen
Palermo Athletics
Orillia Riversharks

Each team will play 24 games this season, winding up with a League Playoff in Orillia Ontario on July 29-30, 2006.

The winner of the League Playoff will receive a berth in the ISC World Tournament hosted in Kitchener in 2007. Yes, the World Tournament will be in Kitchener in both 2006 and 2007!

Moraviantown, ON tourney offering $5,000 first place prize money!!

The first annual “Big How” Howard Logan Sr. Memorial Tournament will be held July 21-23 in Moraviantown in southwestern Ontario.

Entry fee is $800.

Prize money is as follows:
First: $5,000
Second: $1,600
Third: $850
Fourth: $850
5-8: $400

Tournament all-stars will each receive a $50 cash prize plus a ball bag.

Each team is guaranteed three games.

12 teams make the playoffs.

Canada East Innerkip Qualifier Capped

Canada East ISC Commissioner Bob McGowan is announcing that the ISC II Qualifier in Innerkip June 16-18 is now tentatively capped at 16 teams with one team on the waiting list.

ISC II teams in Ontario and Quebec can still enter the ISC II qualifier to be held in Fitzroy Harbour June 16-18. The entry fee is $300.

The winners of each ISC II qualifier will receive berths in the ISC II Tournament of Champions with additional invite berths likely available.

A-1 Tank website launched

A-1 Tank of Hayward, CA has launched a new team website.

A-1 Tank is returning this year. We have become one of the strongest teams in the Nor-Cal area and are striving to become a contender in National Championship play. This year we have combined with the Nor-Cal Mavericks who, after one season, have made a name for themselves placing 3rd at the NAFA “AA”.

Southern Illinois Qualifier

South Central Illinois ISC Qualifier Set for Vandalia

Rich Well, ISC Deputy Commissioner, has announced the dates, site, and other details for the South Central Illinois ISC Qualifier for the 2006 fastball season.

The competition will be held in Vandalia, Illinois, over the weekend of June 2, 3, and 4.

The tournament will determine an area representative for the ISC World Tournament (which will be held in Kitchener, ONT, August 11 – 19) and a second representative for the ISC II Tournament of Champions (in Kitchener, ONT, August 13 – 18.

The planned format is round robin with semi-finals and finals pitting the top two teams from each pool into a single elimination tourney. This format may change depending on the number of teams competing for the ISC World Tournament spot and the number competing for the spot in the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Teams will need to declare as they enter the event whether they are competing for the ISC or the ISC II berth.

Deadline is April 17.

Entry fee is $200. Checks should be payable to RichWell/The Freight Softball.

Four ISC II Teams at Red Rock

Four ISC II teams are taking part in the 7th annual Red Rock Tournament in St. George, UT May 6-8. Denver, CO Rage, Hayward, CA A-1 Tank, Bakersfield, CA LumberKings and Appleton, WI Bar of Appleton will be in tough against the likes of NY Patsy’s, SoCal Bombers, Team Rainey and Portland C/R.
