Changes to the ISC II Ineligible List

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

November 20, 2007 – The International Softball Congress is releasing an off-season update of the Ineligible Pitching List for the ISC II division.

The ineligible list was introduced prior to the 2004 season. Additions and deletions have been made annually since then, but this is the first major overhaul of the list since November 2004 as some 90 names are being removed.

“We recognize that the list was getting dated and it was time to remove a lot of the names,” said ISC II Vice President Jim Williamson, adding that the appeals process for pitchers who are on the list remains in effect.

See below for a list of those who have been added and removed to the list effective Nov. 15, 2007.

For the complete list, as well as the appeals process, please see the ISC II page on the ISC website at www.iscfastpitch.com.

Dave Drotzman Spins a No-No for A-1/Taylor Farms at ISC II

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

A-1/Taylor Farms got off to a great start in their first game at the ISC II Tournament of Champions, as Dave Drotzman tossed a no-hitter, picking up a 2-0 win. More details when they become available. A-1/Taylor Farms is playing in their first ever ISC II tournament, and are the second team from California to compete in the prestigious event. The other, the California Lumberkings will play the host Bridgeport Braves from Ontario, tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30pm EST — 4:30p for California fans on the west coast. Several players on the A-1/Taylor Farms team played on last year’s Lumberking squad, as the two teams shared player for various events, including catcher Jeff Twist and outfielder Shawn Mandolesi.

Drotzman has pitched very well in the ISC II tournament of champions, surrendering but 1 earned run in last year’s tournament as a member of the Yakima JRW squad.

Update from Al’s Fastball: Bloomington, IL Recently we posted this TidBit from a reliable source:”Jonas Mach sigend with Bloomington”Today, an equally reliable source said:” asked Jonas after I read the tidbits to see if his signing with Bloomington was true. He said that he has not signed with Bloomington or anyone else at this point.” Just goes to show:For those not familiar with tidbits, its ballyard rumours, nothingmore. Maybe no fact here at all, but same kind of stories you hear in theballpark. Only those mentioned can confirm or deny these stories, and traditionally they tell us nada, or hardly ever, but they canstraighten the story out any time. ALL our TidBits come from guys in the game that I knowand who sign their name to what they send me. Each has asked to remainAnnonymous.

Jonas Mach, the hard throwing right hander from the Czech Republic who set a new ISC II Tournament of Champions strikeout record in 2006 while pitching for the Thomson, IL Area Merchants, before being eclipsed in turn by Micksburg’s Cory Costello, is reported to have signed with Bloomington, IL for the 2007 ISC season:

Lumberking’s Anthony Martinez Leads Team to 23&U Nat’l Title

Monday, August 7th, 2006

From the So Cal ASA website:

2006 23 & UNDER NATIONAL CHAMPIONS – YOUNG BUCKS

The Young Bucks of Southern California finished the tournament 4 – 0 and ended two of the games via the run rule. Led by Clyde Bennett and Warren “Pinky” Allsup, this group of young men scored 33 runs while allowing only 4 runs, one earned. This was the second year that the Young Bucks appeared at the 23 & Under Nationals and have earned trips to the Championship game both years. In last year’s contest the Young Bucks defeated LeMay of Minnesota in the Championship game but had to forfeit the “If” game due to their flight back home.

This year Clyde made sure that the team could play the entire tournament as they have flights on the red eye Sunday night so that they would have no problem playing for the title. In this year’s Championship game, the Young Bucks had a rematch against LeMay who worked their way through the loser’s bracket, winning six games in a row. With Anthony Martinez in the circle, the Young Bucks took only the one game to prove that they were the National Champions and defeated LeMay by a score of 3 – 1. Anthony was on his game in the Championship as he pitched a no-hitter, allowing only one run on a walk and passed ball.

The Young Bucks were honored after the tournament as they received their Championship medallions and eight members of the team earned first and second team All-American Honors:

First Annual PROforma ALL-STAR Challenge Cup

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Blair Setford to Broadcast Live at 9pm Thursday Night

Kitchener, Ontario – August 4, 2006 – The Golden Horseshoe Fastball League and the South Perth Men’s Fastball League are pleased to announce the creation of a brand new event taking place at the site of the 2006 ISC World Fastball Tournament.

The PROforma ALL-STAR Challenge Cup, sponsored by local promotional products distributor PROforma Promotions, will be held on Thursday, August 10th at 9:00 PM at the Peter Hallman Ball Yard in Kitchener. The event will pair all-star teams from the GHFL & SPMFL in a tournament kick-off challenge match.

“I am very excited to sponsor this new event,” states Ken Doucet, owner of PROforma Promotions, the official merchandise supplier of the 2006 Schneiders ISC World Men’s Fastball Tournament. PROforma also supplied the merchandise for the 2002 Schneiders ISC World Men’s Fastball Tournament.

“We’re doing everything we can to try to re-fire interest in men’s fastball in Ontario and events like the PROforma All-Star Challenge are a great way to build some friendly rivalries between leagues,” said GHFL President Blair Setford. “South Perth is widely recognized as one of the top leagues around, but we think that we’re going to surprise a lot of people with how good the GHFL team will be.”

“South Perth teams have won the past three ISC II Championships and we’ve got a lot of great players, but we’re looking forward to the challenge,” said South Perth president George Nahrgang.

“We’re thrilled that PROforma has stepped up to be the title sponsor and I expect that competition for the PROforma All-Star Cup is going to be fierce every year,” said Setford.
