Thanks to all the Casper Park personnel

I would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to the Casper Park personnel in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. During the ISC-II Tournament of Champions, they did a great job running the show.

Ottawa, ON

In Greater Ottawa Fastball League http://ca.geocities.com/fitzroyfastball/GOFL.htm play, both semi-finals series ended after three games on Wednesday August 31.

At Fitzroy Harbour, ON: Stittsville 56ers defeated Fitzroy Harbour WC Electric by a score of 5-0 to sweep the series. Dan Bradley threw his second consecutive shutout, with a 5-hitter. Over 21 innings against Fitzroy Harbour, Bradley allowed only one run. Bud Hanlon took the loss for Fitzroy with relief from Brad Porter. Scott Herriott led Stittsville offensively with two infield singles, a stolen base and scoring two runs. Fitzroy Harbour had several base runners in the game, including having the bases loaded in the fourth, but couldn’t push any runs across for their supportive home crowd of about 150 fans.

At Manotick, ON: Kanata Team Easton defeated Manotick Lomor Printers by a score of 6-0 to sweep their semi-final series. Dan Konkle won his second game of the series, with five innings of no-hit ball. Trevor Lahey took the loss for Manotick. Konkle did not allow a run in either of his appearances and allowed only one hit. Bill Gerber had the other pitching victory for Kanata. Dave Tubman had a home run for Team Easton in the Game three victory. Manotick finished first overall in regular league play for the second season in a row, and once again was put out in the semi-finals.

Team Easton will now face Stittsville in a best-of-five final. Team Easton are two-time defending champions.

In Upper Ottawa Valley Men’s Fastball League http://ca.geocities.com/fitzroyfastball/UOVMFL.htm play, the best-of-seven final is under way, with Micksburg taking game one by a score of 8-0 over Campbell’s Bay Royals on Tuesday August 30. At Micksburg, ON, Corey Costello continued his outstanding season, throwing a one-hit shutout with eighteen strikeouts. Costello also contributed offensively with a home run, as did Jamey Mick. Len Burger suffered his first loss of the playoffs, after winning three semi-final games in a row. Game two is on Friday September 2 at 8:00PM in Bryson, Quebec, the playoff home for the Royals.

In other eastern Ontario area league play, at Ottawa, ON the Ottawa Valley Raiders repeated as the champions of the seven-team Ottawa RA Fastball League with a 2 games to 1 series victory over the regular season leader Ottawa Atlantic Storm in the best-of-five final. At Newboro, ON the ten-team North Leeds Men’s Fastball League http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=nlmf title was won by Newboro Rideau Insurance who defeated the Lansdowne Longhorns in the six-point final series in which Newboro won two games, lost one and tied two.
