Snapper Shootout Final

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Courtesy of Dan Bernard, Niagara Snappers

ISC II #1 Niagara Snappers were leading ISC II#10 Elora Brewers 3-2 in the top of the 5th inning when the rains arrived in Virgil, Ontario.

With little hope of the fields being playable within a reasonable time, the teams agreed to split the $2,800 in prize money.

Pitching for the Niagara Snappers was Dan Duemo with Todd Uhrig on the mound for the Brewers. Uhrig had homered in the bottom of the 4th to draw Elora to within one.

Congratulations to both teams on making it to the final and to the Snappers for putting on another first-class tournament.

Snapper Shootout Semi-Final Scores

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Courtesy Dan Bernard, Niagara Snappers

ISC II #10 Elora Brewers 7 ISC II #5 Oswego CPI 2
WP: Todd Uhrig
LP: Charlie Walsman, relief Shaun Winship
After pitching 8 innings to beat the Napanee Juniors, CPI hoped to rest Winship for a couple of innings against Elora, but their strategy backfired as the Brewers apparently scored 5 in the first. Uhrig, who started, was relieved and then came back in for the save against the Rise in the quarters went the distance for Elora.

ISC II #1 Niagara Snappers 10 ISC II #7 Palermo Athletics 3
WP: Corey Costello, relief Dan Duemo
LP: Chad Reed, relief Gord Scott

Reed got the surprise start for Palermo and gave up five runs. The Athletics scored three off Costello. Todd Dawdy had a 2-run HR for the Snappers.

On the field: Championship Final
ISC II #1 Niagara Snappers vs ISC II #10 Elora Brewers
$2,000 for the winner, $800 for the finalist.
Palermo & CPI each take home $250.

Snapper Shootout Sunday 11:45 am scores

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Courtesy Dan Bernard, Niagara Snappers

11:45 am
ISC II #5 Oswego CPI 3 Napanee Express Jrs 2 – 8 innings
WP: Shaun Winship
LP: Jordan MacDonald
19-year old MacDonald threw most of the innings for Napanee this weekend and looked very impressive. Winship will have to carry the mail for CPI on Sunday as Shaun Samson left Saturday night for work.

ISC II #10 Elora Brewers 13 ISC II #3 Hoffman Rise 10
WP: Jeff Detta, in relief of Todd Uhrig
LP: Art Devoe
HRs: Elora – Terry Martin, Todd Uhrig; Rise – Ryan Frank (2); Bart Fenstermacher, John Hurst
Rise were up 10-6 going into the last inning when the Brewers scored 7 runs. Uhrig started and went two innings before being replaced by Detta, then came back in to finish the game.

On the field: Semi finals:
# 5 ranked CPI vs #10 ranked Elora – likely starters Winship vs Mike Pinder;
#1 ranked Niagara Snappers vs # 7 ranked Palermo Athletics – likely starters Corey Costello vs Gord Scott.
# 2 Tavistock and # 3 ranked Rise PA have been eliminated.

Snapper Shootout Sunday 9:30 am scores

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Scores courtesy Dan Bernard, Niagara Snappers

9:30 am
ISC II #7 Palermo Athletics 2 ISC II #2 Tavistock Merchants 1
WP: Gord Scott
LP: Steve Cook
Palermo wins the rematch of last year’s ISC II ToC championship game. Ryan Cummings, the top pitcher at the Tournament of Champions last year is not with Tavistock this weekend.

ISC II #1 Niagara Snappers 9 ISC II #25 Glencoe Astros 8
WP: Byron Demoe in relief of Mike Bateman
LP: Jason Dawdy in relief of Dan Konkle
For Niagara, Byron Demoe 3-run HR; Trevor Falk 3-run HR
Many were expecting a match-up of Corey Costello vs. Dan Konkle, but Costello only pitched his first game of year on Friday night and after another 8 innings yesterday, will only be available for limited action today, apparently. The Snappers have scored runs by the bushel this weekend, but have also given them up that way, too.
