Mid-Atlantic Travel League second weekend

The Mid-Atlantic Travel League plays it’s second weekend June 19-21 in Lancaster, PA at Garrett Field.

In action will be #11 Hoffman Rise, #22 Pennsylvania Power and #23 Staten Island ADCO Electric, all of whom have already qualified for the 2009 ISC II ToC.

South Perth All-Stars in Monkton

The South Perth All Stars will be one of the 8 teams in the 2009 World Fastball Invitational 2009 – July 2 – July 5 in Monkton ON.

Here is a list of the players that will attend (with ISC II regulars in bold).

Pitchers: Dan Martin and Casey Halstead Elmira Erb Electric Expos, Fred Follings Shakespeare Falcons and Ryan French of the Kitchener Cubs.

Catchers: Ross Herold, Bridgeport Braves and Matt McGill Mitchell Mets.

Infield: Sean McLearn, Hickson Reds, Reid Yantzi, Sheakespeare Falcons, Josh Brohman Elmira Expos, Joe Harris, Mitchell Mets and Brian Roote and Chad Crawford of the Sebringville Sting.

Greater Ottawa Fastball League Showcase

Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre will host the fourth annual Greater Ottawa Fastball League Showcase on June 5 and 6. The weekend will feature eight teams playing eight games which will all count in the GOFL standings.

Things start Friday night June 5, with a West Carleton Minor Softball League (www.wcminorsoftball.ca) Peewee Boys game between the Fitzroy Harbour “Junior Electric” and Kinburn at 7pm, followed by hosts West Carleton Electric against the Stittsville 56ers at 9pm.

Games start at 10am on Saturday June 6 with two games, including West Carleton Electric versus Manotick Lomor Printers.

At noon there will be a kids’ softball clinic for boys and girls so that young players can learn some tips from members of the GOFL. The clinic is free, and all participants will get a hot dog and drink as well as an entry to win a new bat, courtesy of COMBAT Sports.

All weekend there will be a barbecue on site with “Fitzroy Beef Burgers” and the canteen will be open for other items. The Fitzroy Harbour Community Association will also be hosting a outdoor beer garden for both Friday night and Saturday.

There is no charge for admission and Ottawa area fastball fans are encouraged to come to Fitzroy Harbour to watch the top men’s fastpitch softball teams in eastern Ontario.

Mid-Atlantic Travel League kicks off this weekend

The Mid-Atlantic Fastpitch Travel League, one of the oldest travel leagues in the ISC, kicks off it’s 2009 season at Garrett Park in Lancaster, PA with the first of three weekends.

Headlining the league is the ISC #13 New York, NY Gremlins, who finished tied for third in last year’s ToC as the NY Knights before making the jump to the World Tournament. Among the ISC II contenders are #7 Reading, PA Hoffman Rise, #22 Wilkes-Barre, PA Keating’s Fitness, #27 Staten Island, NY Adco Electric, #35 Ephrata, PA Pennsylvania Power and #37 USA Maccabi (whose east coast players are in the league).

2009 Canada East ISC Home League Program

ISC Canada East VP Blair Setford is asking for Ontario men’s fastball leagues to confirm their affiliation with the Ontario ISC Home League Program for the 2009 season.

Affiliation enables a league to send a representative to the 2009 Ontario Challenge Cup or the 2009 Challenge Cup East (details below).

Each tournament will provide the winner with a berth in the 2010 ISC II Tournament of Champions.
