8th Annual Pete Schwab Memorial Men’s Fastpitch Tournament

July 17-19, 2009

I’d like to invite everyone to the 8th annual Pete Schwab Memorial men’s fastpitch softball tournament. The tournament will be held, July 17-19th, in Frankenmuth’s Heritage Park. As in years past, the tournament will be be a 4-game guarentee. All teams team will be seeded into play-off bracket following a 3 game round robin on Friday night and Saturday. The top 8 teams from round robin play will be seeded into Sunday’s single-elim championship ‘A’ playoff bracket with the remaining teams being seeded into consolation playoff brackets.

The tournament entry fee is $350US. Teams with pitchers on the ISC II pitcher’s ineligible list will not be allowed.

The top finishing US East region team from this year’s tournament will receive a bid to the 2010 ISC II TOC. An additional bid may also be available to teams from any region.

We are still looking for two teams to complete the expected field of 16 teams. The following teams have reserved a spot in this year’s event.

OASA Intermediate Elims winner to receive ToC berth

OASA & ISC Canada East announce ToC berth for Intermediate Eliminations winner

April 6, 2009 – The Ontario Amateur Softball Association and the International Softball Congress (Canada East) are pleased to announce that, effective this season, a berth in the following year’s ISC II Tournament of Champions will be awarded to the winner of the annual OASA Intermediate Eliminations Tournament.

“The OASA is pleased to have the opportunity to work with the ISC to help promote the game of fastball in the Province of Ontario. We look forward to having a very competitive tournament at Hillside Park in Waterloo this August,” said OASA Men’s Committee Chair Brad Thomson.

“This is a terrific opportunity for the two leading men’s fastball organizations in the province of Ontario to cooperate and provide teams with a 12-month window to plan for a trip to the top intermediate championship tournament in the game,” said ISC Canada East Regional Vice-President Blair Setford.

Information on registration and roster requirements for the OASA Intermediate Eliminations will be available through OASA and ISC Canada East sources. The tournament will be governed by Softball Canada rules and will use the ISC pitching rule and eligibility guidelines.

The 2009 OASA Intermediate Eliminations tournament will be held in Waterloo at Hillside Park July 31-August 2. The winner will receive a berth in the 2010 ISC II Tournament of Champions to be held in Midland, Michigan.

Ontario Challenge Cups this weekend

The Ontario Challenge Cup and the Ontario Challenge Cup East go this weekend (September 19-21) in Innerkip/Hickson and Fitzroy Harbour respectfully.

Teams representing more than a dozen leagues from across Ontario and Quebec will be on hand as at least two berths to the 2009 ISC II Tournament of Champions will be earned this weekend.

Note that we have had a change to the schedule in each tournament:
In Innerkip, Kitchener Smoke replace Minesing Monarchs.
In Fitzroy Harbour, Wyevale Tribe replace Enterprise Oasis Pools.

Palermo Athletics earn berth in 2009 ToC

Palermo Athletics earned a berth in the 2009 ISC II Tournament of Champions with a convincing 10-2 win over the Wyevale Tribe in the ISC II final of the Canada East Travel League playoff tournament Sunday afternoon at beautiful Lancaster Park in downtown St. Catharines.

Chris McColl picked up the win over Jason Giffen to earn Palermo a trip to Quad Cities in 2009. It will be Palermo’s fifth consecutive appearance at the ToC, dating back to Chippewa Falls in 2005.

Both teams will be taking part in the 2008 ISC II ToC. Palermo is in tough in Pool E with Ashland, OH Stockpack, Carp, ON I4C Victory and Winterset, IA A’s while Wyevale has the uneviable task of taking on top ranked Bakersfield, CA Taylor Farms LumberKings in Pool A along with Lloydminster, AB Dodgers and Memphis, TN Posse.
