Rough start for #25 Wyevale, ON Tribe

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The Owen Sound Jrs marched into Elmvale on a cool Tuesday evening and handed the home side Wyevale Tribe a couple of large helpings of humble pie in Canada East Travel League action. The Jrs mercied Wyevale in both halves of the double dip (15-2 & 8-1). The story on this night unfortunately was the inability of the Wyevale pitching staff to command the strikezone. A total of 27 free passes issued by 4 different pitchers for Wyevale on this night. Matt Kuhl picked one of the few pitches that actually made it accross the plate and deposited over the centre field fence for a Grand Slam in Game #1. In the 2nd game Dustin Veenhof tossed a 3 hitter to grab the win. Owen Sound played sparkling defense in both games, and did what they needed to do to bury the Tribe.

Both Wyevale and Owen Sound are in action again on May 23rd.

Wyevale hosts ISC #6 Jarvis Gamblers, while Owen Sound hosts ISC II #4 Palermo Athletics.

Kitchener to host 2011 WT & ToC

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Editors’ Note: The ToC has never had a better home than in Kitchener. With great crowds that are knowledgeable and appreciative (and sizable), the birthplace of ISC II offers terrific fields and a brilliant atmosphere that simply can’t be matched. We look forward to the return trip to Budd Park!

Budd Park

The International Softball Congress (ISC) is pleased to announce that Kitchener, ON will host the 2011 ISC World Tournament and ISC II Tournament of Champions.

Normally, bidding for the 2011 tournaments would occur during the ISC Board of Director meeting in August in Quad Cities. However, we have talked to each prospective host city for 2011 and all have withdrawn except Kitchener. It was therefore decided we would award the 2011 tournaments early, to allow Kitchener maximum time to plan and prepare.

Kitchener has successfully hosted 3-prior ISC World and ISC II tournaments in 2002, 2006 & 2007 and we have every confidence their 2011 tournaments will be equally successful.

It is expected that Duncan Matheson will again serve as tournament director for the World Tournament and Rick Boyd as tournament director for the ISC II Tournament of Champions.

The contract with Kitchener will be signed later this summer after the Midland contract for 2010 is signed.
