Updated ISC II Eligibility Guidelines and Changes to ISC II Ineligible Pitchers List

November 17th, 2004

For Immediate Release

November 17, 2004

Blair Setford, ISC II Commissioner, has announced updated eligibility guidelines for the ISC II division along with additions and deletions for the ISC II Ineligible Pitchers List.

The new guidelines encompass all ISC II play for travel leagues, qualifier tournaments and the Tournament of Champions and reinforce the firewall between ISC World Tournament competition and ISC II which prevents any type of crossover of teams, players and pitchers between the two divisions.

The full guidelines are available on the ISC web site at: www.iscfastpitch.com/webstartme/isc2/eglis.htm

Included in the changes are the following points:
· Teams that competed in the 2003 or 2004 ISC World Tournament or the 2004 Canadian Senior Men’s Championship and certain teams that participated in the 2004 ASA “Major, ASA “A and NAFA “AAA tournaments are not eligible for ISC II play.

· Any player who participated in the 2003 Pan-Am games or the 2000 or 2004 ISF World Championship, the 2003 or 2004 ISC World Tournament or the 2004 Canadian Senior Men’s Championship and certain players that participated in the 2004 ASA “Major, ASA “A and NAFA “AAA tournaments are not eligible for ISC II play.

· Any pitcher who pitched in the 2003 Pan-Am games or the 2000 or 2004 ISF World Championship or whose name appears on the ISC II Ineligible Pitchers list is not eligible for ISC II play in 2005.

· Once teams have qualified for the ISC II Tournament of Champions, they are allowed only three (3) pick-ups from ISC II-eligible players from within their area.

Any eligibility questions not covered expressly in the guidelines should be directed to your Area or Travel League Commissioner, with a copy to the Region VP and a copy to Bob McGowan and Blair Setford. The ISC strongly suggests resolving eligibility questions prior to the season so there are no surprises or disappointments in league, tournament or championship play.

All appeals must be submitted no later than July 15, 2005 in writing or by email to:
1. Local Area or Travel League Commissioner
2. Region Vice President
3. ISC II Vice President Bob McGowan and ISC II Commissioner Blair Setford

The changes to the ISC II Ineligible Pitchers List represent an ongoing effort to keep the list current. Read the rest of this entry »

Port Elgin, ON Blue Devils clinch berth in 2005 ISC II ToC

September 28th, 2004

Hillsburgh, Ontario
September 25, 2004

Congratulations to the Port Elgin Blue Devils who became the first team to clinch a berth in the 2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions in Chippewa Falls, WI with a last inning victory to win the Ontario ISC II Challenge Cup.

The Ontario ISC II Challenge Cup brought together 12 teams representing 8 leagues comprised of 96 clubs from across Ontario to battle it out in a double knockout format for the coveted berth in the 2005 Tournament of Champions.

Facing a scrappy Ingersoll Centennials team that had forced Port Elgin to the “if” game, the Blue Devils manufactured a two-out run in the bottom of the seventh to win the championship with some help from controversial call on the final play.

Port Elgin tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a lead-off home run by Aaron Whitney. Rick Johnson had staked Ingersoll to an early 2-0 lead with a home run in the first inning.

Winning pitcher and Tournament MVP was Scott Christie of the Blue Devils.

In reaching the final, Ingersoll eliminated Niagara Snappers, who earlier knocked out Breslau KJ Sox in the first of four games on the day at Barbour Field in Hillsburgh in south-central Ontario.

Thanks to tournament hosts Terry Bennett and the Hillsburgh Minor Softball Association for all their work in the rain back in August and for bringing these four fine teams back to finish the tournament.
